Emerging Writer Contest 4 Winning Story is Announced.

Authors of Semi-Finalist Stories are Revealed

A drumroll would definitely be appropriate here! Selected by Hummingbird Reader vote, Cherry Eyes by Marijana Mrvos is the winning story of the Hummingbird Emerging Writer Contest 4.

The Runner-Up story, The Other Side of the Counter, was written by Dorothy Konarski. Hummingbird runner-up story authors are often next in line story winners. We look forward to hearing more from you!!

We thank Contest 4 participants for their writing and the opportunity to read your stories. We recognize the effort, confidence, and love of writing that is exemplified by your submissions.

Our two semi-finalists have wonderful back-stories. You will be hearing more about them on Hummingbird in the near future. Additionally, as winner Marijana Mrvos has been invited to submit another original story for publication on Hummingbird. We look forward to publishing Marijana’s new work soon!

We received several comments from Hummingbird readers when they submitted their votes. We would like to share that Cherry Eyes was appreciated for the warmth and love conveyed so beautifully in a story crafted to fit the Contest format.

The Other Side of the Counter was valued for its uniqueness, voice(s), and story told through the “journaling” device. The writing was fresh and true.
