Just Folks. The Super Bowl 2025.
A few years ago, I was together with some friends at the Sayville Yacht Club to watch the overly spectacular "Big Game." I wasn’t a big follower of football per se, even though it was an exciting game that year!
At one point, I got restless and took out my "field notes mobile unit" (my traveling sketchbook kit) and made this quick drawing of my friend Ann while we were watching the game. I took down some notes of conversations we heard all around us in the background. Once I felt I had "gathered enough" from the party surroundings I knew I would want to finish the sketch later by adding other elements. When I got home, the drawing quickly turned into a collage as I grabbed random patterns, stamps and papers that reflected the conversations happening around us that night.
Update Super Bowl 2025: This year, I am “into it!” I'm rooting for Kansas City because it would b great to see them set a record, winning 3 Super Bowls in a row! I love Andy Reid and I’m interested in the players’ backstories. I think it will be a very evenly matched game. The Eagles are a strong team as well, gritty and resilient. Both teams will have their work cut out for them. Which team are you rooting for?
