FEATURED REVIEW
The Midnight Feast
Lucy Foley
The Midnight Feast is another mystery/thriller by Lucy Foley. It is about the “opening night” of an extremely expansive coastal retreat, catering to very “outlandish’ guests. There are certainly themes of personal identity and how social issues can conceivably determine your destiny. Characters have limitations, and they all appear to have an agenda.
The story is set in dual time which is interwoven with multiple twists, making their way to the ending. A touch of paranormal possibilities and a nugget of paganism with birds adds further interest. And of course, there is a body!
This was a good read. However I should note that I recently read another book by Foley in which I found the characters more "tantalizing." I encourage you to also read The Guest List. (Reviewed on August 22, 2024)

So many books, so little time. Right, right - we’ve all heard it many times. Hummingbird's new BOOK SHORTS will present book reviews you can read in a minute and capture the essence of the story, thumbnail reviews that hopefully will entice you into your next read. I read constantly. My tastes vary, so I’ll review books that I love, not necessarily current books. Other HB contributors will review books that follow their interests, both newly published and past. All in all, we’ll review books we think are captivating, compelling, unputdownable. If you’re looking for a good book to take to the beach, make that long commute shorter, or curl up with, hopefully our reviews will help you find it. Lynda Bernard
