Sag Harbor & Environs. Notes From the Field.

Anecdotal and probably biased (gotta be truthful) market research from the sidewalks of Sag Harbor and slightly further afar in the Hamptons.

  • "Younger women," approximately 37-50, maybe 55, are the primary drivers of  large, luxury SUVs such as Mercedes G-Wagon (tank) Range Rover, Mercedes, and Porsche Cayenne.

  • Drivers in East Hampton, and on the Montauk Highway between Sagg Main & Bridgehampton Commons are more aggressive than those taking the back roads between similar points.

  • People that shop in green markets/farm stands should be way nicer and more laid back. If you are one of them, it would be good if you can work on that.

  • Tourists in the main are "sidewalk hogs," i.e. 3-4 people across--everyone else, step aside!

  • Barnes & Noble in Bridgehampton Commons has uncommonly, and unexpectedly, knowledgeable staff!

  • We can all lighten up and be a little less judgmental. (Hahaha. Present company included.)

  • The summer is way too short!

Am I right? Enjoy the last week of summer. Follow-up commentary coming at you!
